BrightSparks – Bradgate Writers Group

BrightSparks is a formally constituted arts in mental health group. It’s central principles are: to use the arts to promote positive images of mental health; social inclusion; and service user and carer involvement.

An informal writers group dedicated to creative writing and poetry. Open to in and out patients, and all levels of ability, including please who struggle to read and write. Feel free to drop in and check us out.

Come along to the Arts Cafe, do some artwork, have a game of pool or table tennis and view The Glenvale Gallery. Open to in-patients, out-patients, family and friends.

Want to try something new? Feeling stressed at work, life going too fast and you need time to slow down? Why not come and join us for some crafting.

Introducing from the 14th June 2016, a new all-male crafting group, run in conjunction with Charnwood Arts as part of PhD research project on the slow process of crafting and how that activity can help a positive mind and improve well being.

Sessions are free but we do ask for small contribution towards refreshments.

REMIT is a community education project for adults in Leicester and Leicestershire who experience severe and enduring mental health problems.

a range of courses every week, approximately 2 hours
most courses are non-accredited but learners can progress from REMIT onto mainstream to work towards qualifications.
these courses are available on referral basis only.

Where are we located?
Our main base is at the Leicester Adult Education College in the city centre. We also have some courses in other venues.

The WEA (Workers’ Educational Association) 101 centre is a small, friendly educational establishment, within walking distance of the city centre, where adults can return to learn.  Our programme operates from a recently refurbished Victorian building.  We pride ourselves on offering students, both old and new, a friendly welcome.  Whether its new skills you want to learn to help you get that job, develop a new interest or keep fit and healthy, then we have something to offer.
