Glitterbug: Fundraising in support of inclusivity

Following on from the success of our Fashion show in February, where our aim was to provide members of the community with an opportunity to get pampered to support both body positivity, and empower those participating, we partnered up with Glitterbug in September to raise money for Lamp by hosting a burlesque show!

Burlesque is a literary, dramatic or musical work intended to cause laughter by caricaturing the manner or spirit of serious works.

As a mental health charity, we understand that continuing to raise awareness around body image, the acceptance of all bodies, and the effects it can have on an individuals mental health is very important. So, when we were approached by John Marraffa, we were more than happy to get involved.

The event was attended by our Chair of Trustees, Shaun Johnson, who said “everyone in attendance was really engaged with the idea of a mental health event, and really made an effort to raise awareness and challenge stigma, which was really nice to see”. In total, Glitterbug raised £603.76, which also included a generous donation of £343.76 from Autoglass.

We’d like to thank both for their kindness in choosing Lamp as their chosen charity. Their support is greatly appreciated.
