Leicestershire high school supports Lamp mental health charity

Gartree High School in Oadby, Leicestershire, has supported Lamp, the Leicester-based mental health charity with successful fundraising initiatives in 2022. Jack Radford, one of the school’s students, has been announced as a finalist in the Young Fundraiser of the Year category in the upcoming Leicestershire Community Champion Awards, after he raised over £1,500 for Lamp in a day-long drumming challenge earlier this year.

Ed Wilson, Deputy Headteacher at Gartree High School said:

“We are so proud of our student, Jack Radford, who stepped up to complete the drumming challenge to raise funds for Lamp and has now deservedly been recognised as a finalist in the Community Champion Awards. As a school, we’re acutely aware of our responsibility to support students and staff with their mental health so it’s a natural extension to support a local mental health charity such as Lamp through our fundraising. Going forward, we would like to continue to work with the charity through further fundraising and helping them to raise the profile of the advocacy and support services available to young and older people in Leicestershire.”

Richard Kotulecki, Lamp’s CEO added:

“We are grateful for Gartree High School’s support and welcome their involvement in our fundraising. I’d like to express our heartfelt thanks to the school for its support and look forward to working closely with them next year.”
