Monika turns tradition into a charitable act with a £500 donation to LAMP

Monika, a Leicester-based company which specialises in designing food safety systems, has donated £500 to the LAMP (Leicestershire Action for Mental Health Project) mental health charity. The firm opted to make the donation to Lamp instead of carrying on the tradition of sending Christmas cards to its customers and clients.

The donation will support Lamp’s work in mental health advocacy, enabling the voices of those in need to be heard, whilst protecting and promoting their rights and getting their wishes considered in treatment and support plans.

Lorraine Gamble, Monika’s Managing Director who covers the UK and Europe, said:

“We are delighted to have donated to LAMP to support the work that it does. For several years now, Monika has chosen to donate money to charity rather than sending physical Christmas cards to our customers. This year we chose to support LAMP to help the charity continue the good work that it does in Leicestershire. Generally speaking, we tend to not to know how to take care of our mental health like we do our physical health. This means we may not know how to support a friend, family member or colleague who is trying to cope with a mental health issue or guide them to where they can receive help and support. LAMP can help to provide this support and with the disruptions that have emerged with the Covid-19 pandemic, this is more important than ever. As a business, we understand the importance of mental health first aid in the workplace and I am proud to say that we have had two fully trained Mental Health First Aiders in place since September 2019, who support all aspects of our staff members’ mental wellbeing.”

Richard Kotulekci, Lamp’s CEO expressed his thanks and said:

“We are grateful to Monika for their donation and their much-valued support. The funds will enable us to continue supporting vulnerable people through the pandemic. We have seen a surge in people experiencing mental health crises during the coronavirus pandemic, much more so than previously recorded seeking our help. Monika’s donation is timely and it embodies our belief that giving is to be joyful, even in times of crisis.”
