Lamp Lunchtime With… Paul Tonkinson
Friday, 26th June 2026
12 until 3:30pm
Chutney Ivy Restaurant, 41 Halford Street, Leicester LE1 1TR
Ticket – £32.50 or £45 (with Signed Copy of Running Through Sand).
Paul Tonkinson is an award-winning comedian, broadcaster and endurance runner who has built a reputation as one of the most engaging performers on the UK circuit, combining high-energy stand-up with honest, self-deprecating storytelling.
Alongside his comedy career, Paul is also an accomplished author. His book 26.2 Miles to Happiness won Sports Entertainment Book of the Year at the Telegraph Sports Book Awards, and his latest release Running Through Sand documents his attempt to complete the Marathon des Sables, a 250km self-sufficient race across the Sahara Desert.
At this event, Paul will be in conversation for an honest and entertaining one hour discussion covering three threads:
💡 His journey through comedy, broadcasting and live performance.
💡 The story behind his running challenges, from chasing a sub-three-hour London Marathon to taking on one of the toughest races on earth.
💡 The realities of ageing, setbacks, resilience and what pushing physical and mental limits has taught him.
There is no formal presentation. Just a proper conversation, followed by audience Q&A.
Paul brings humour, honesty and a unique perspective on resilience, making this a brilliant opportunity to hear the story behind the performances, the challenges and the books.
CHUTNEY IVY RESTAURANT & BAR will be serving up a drink on arrival and a beautiful two-course lunch. All profits will be going towards Lamp Charity’s Independent Community Mental Health Advocacy across Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland.
