Shree Prajapati Association: Health and Wellbeing Day

On August 4th 2019, Lamp were kindly invited to attend a health and wellbeing day, organised by The Shree Prajapati Association.

Lamp were offered the opportunity to run a stall at the event to help bring awareness to mental health in our local community. We were able to hand out leaflets and information to attendees on what services we have available, and how to access them.

For the benefit of the attendees, the event also involved an array of stalls from other charities and organisations. They all focused on providing information to both younger and older attendees . The objective for the event was that each stall concentrated on a different focus. This meant that those in attendance had the opportunity to gain a wealth of knowledge on ways to better achieve a healthier lifestyle. This included having the opportunity to get checked for pancreatic cancer and to get involved in activities such as chair yoga. Food was also provided for all.

This NHS sponsored event was a fantastic way to get talking to members of the local community. We were able to educate those who were unaware of mental health services in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, and were able to answer queries that helped to break down the stigma that some had towards mental health issues.

We were very grateful for the invitation, and had a great time!
